Why I don't believe in democracy

Yesterday was a horrible day for Abercombie and Fitch incorporated. They will now suffer a massive increase in payroll costs as several propositions designed to increase the minimum-wage passed. I’m glad voters recognized the need subsidize the salaries of glamorous teenagers that spend their days folding clothes and listening to shitty techno.

If only the populous new anything about economics or the demographic composition of the minimum wage. Then they might shy away from evil market distorting instruments such as the minimum wage and favor more direct ways of fighting poverty, such as the earned income tax credit.
