Football on TV

Playing tennis earlier in Bob White Park, I witnessed something really disturbing. Fireworks were being sent off into the sky. Granted, we had been playing tennis for quite some time, but I was damn near certain that it wasn't the 4th of July yet.

But there they were, in all their majestic American glory, being sent off into the night sky on July 2. I guess that they needed to test them to make sure that they would work, but to set them off for ten minutes is a complete desecration of maybe the best remaining holiday. This country never did anything to us and we have to go fuck around with the 4th of July? It's wrong. If the township really felt the need to make sure the fireworks they purchased for Sunday's festivities weren't duds or fakes or whatever, light one at most, and if it works, call it a night.

I wish I hadn't been outside, because every year I look forward to the fireworks, and now I've seen everything there is to see two nights before I should've seen anything. Upper Merion robbed me of the chance to revel in fireworks on July 4th, so along with all the other stupid holidays that continuously let me down (Thanksgiving, New Year's to name a few..two) add the greatest holiday this country ever made to the list.

I don't feel independent.
