Idiots
I don't want to get off on a rant here but I'm getting sick and tired of the idiocy I see daily.
Example: I'm watching TV and I see the Arby's commercial where the guy wallpapers a room in the home, he brags to the wife that he told her they could do the renovations themselves and then it shows that he wallpapered the cat to the wall as well. You see the tail flopping around and it whining, then the obligatory "Something else on your mind" tag line or whatever Arby's is doing. Not a commercial I like, but hey I don't have to.
Now for the point. They recently added a disclaimer "Dramatization. Not a real cat." to the ad. Are you fucking kidding me? Who the hell complained about this? Is PETA continuing to get dumber and have nothing else to go after? There's these kinds of disclaimers in almost every commercial it seems now. Like where an SUV is in the middle of a "tornado" where everything else but the SUV is blown away. Who honestly thinks an SUV could survive this? And would these people even understand what the word dramatization means?
I hope the people who don't realize it's a dramatization actually DO try some of this crap and end up killing themselves so they can be given a Darwin award.
It's insulting the intelligence of the viewer. If they think we're that stupid every TV should come with a big neon sign attached that can't be removed without ruining the TV that flashes and says "Not everything you see on TV is real".
The Super Bowl ads are another issue. There's one infamous one where two guys are eating either end of a Snickers bar and accidentally kiss, then do something "manly" to prove to each other they aren't gay I guess. It was pulled when activist groups bitched and complained.
Hey, complain about what you see or read all you want, but there's a lot of unnecessary power these groups have been given that is reaching an astounding level. If you do anything now you have to explain what is or isn't real about it and then hope to fuck no one is offended or all hell will be raised for no reason. Can't people just enjoy what they watch anymore without having to slog through the bullshit? Don't like it? Don't watch. Society is fucking nuts. Idiots.
