This is a sestina i wrote for creative writing class. The same six words that end each line in the first stanza have to end all the lines in the poem. It turned out really good...its long so bear with me.

Deceptive Love By: Michael D. Philpot

A love that once showed such great intentions,
Now lies amongst a heap of disfigured
relationships. Looking back, my ignorance
was my downfall, falling victim to your deceptive
lies never seeing the real truth. A misconception
on my part, now fuels a volcano...waiting to erupt.

That day, tears of anger began to erupt
from my war torn eyes and your intentions
had finally become clear to me despite my misconceptions.
As you walked away from my door step, the disfigurement
of my life became evident to me. O' how deceptive
are the words from a mind full of ignorance...

For the thoughts that descend from the ignorant
mind are twisted and used in a way that an eruption
of emotions is bound to happen, no matter how deceptive
the words can be. But now i can see the intentions
of your crueld heart. You set out to disfigure
my future. You thought you could; sorry for your misconception.

It seems like yesterday i agreed to this misconception
of a promise to love one another. But the ignorance
of my youth showed as my suddenly disfigured
heart began to bubble with anger and erupt
within itself. To say that destroying my heart was not your intent
would be a lie. Your deceptive

words that flowed from your deceptive,
conceited, wicked heart were like daggers, misconceived
by you, to dismantle my soul. Fortunately, your cruel intentions
did not become reality. My sould bled its ignorance
onto our relationship as an eruption
of a volcano, leaving everthing in its path disfigured

and burning. Like the lava, you set out to disfigure
my world. But I guess, in a twisted situation, I was deceptive.
I appeared to be a person whose sould would erupt
at the first sign of tourble, but it was a fatal misconception.
History is written by the victors, so I write of your ignorance
and how you fell victim to your own cruel intentions.

In a world erupting with hate, intending
to disfigure one another, remember the misconceptions
of the ignorant can produce a false truth that is deceptive.
