I find myself coming up against a solid enough structure of belief within myself sometimes that I find myself saying honestly: "That's against my religion." So what do I believe? And what do I practice?
I believe the only constant is change.
I practice flexibility in response to change.
I believe the four agreements are good practical guidelines for living honestly and ethically.
I practice being impeccable with my word.
I practice not taking things personally.
I practice not making assumptions.
I practice doing my best.
I believe that love is a practice that starts and ends with self loving.
I practice self care and holding the boundaries I need for health and happiness.
I believe that we can only love others as much as we love ourselves.
I practice loving honestly and without sacrificing my freedom or the freedom of others.
I believe that Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs is a good tool for improving bad moods and resolving conflict both within and interpersonally.
I practice resolving the needs at the bottom of the pyramid first.
I believe that we are each responsible for replacing the resources we use and not using more than we need and that striving for a more ethical lifestyle in relation to our own impact upon the earth is a responsibility.
I practice living sustainably and have dedicated myself to learning and changing so that I can live even more sustainably in the future.
I believe that social justice is a dream worth pursuing.
I practice ethical interactions with other humans and have dedicated my life to teaching and empowering others to create the most fulfilling life they can for themselves.
That's probably not all, but those are some basics. I think that many of the others are more specific beliefs that stem from these basic principles. I'll post more as they come to mind.
