Hey all, a quick update for those who are interested.
- Charlotte was fun. We spent three days and two nights with my aunt and uncle. The trip was full of good food, good wine, good company, good mixed drinks and lots of everything. We had lunch at my aunt's country club on the way back to Columbia; the food was great and she sent us home with two slices of pecan pie (pronounced: Pee-can) and gas money. She's too kind. We'll probably head back to Charlotte in a month or so and make it a monthly thing.
- Micah and Krissy might be two of the coolest people I know and they made me think about coming back to Seattle. They sent me a care package - completely unexpected - and it was awesome. It was the first time since I left that I actually thought about all of the friends I left behind. I was considering making the trek home. Thanks to both of you.
- Today was the first day of training at the Olive Garden, which was mostly boring, but I think it will be a fun place to work. Our trainers were both nice and they told us a lot of things that management probably wouldn't have said. They were talking about what percentage of tips people actually claim (because most people don't claim 100% of what they make), and they told us who the cool people were and who to look out for. Good times. We train tomorrow from 9am-5pm, but they feed us for free.
That's about it for now. We're going to head to the Hunter Gatherer for a jazz jam session tonight and Saturday we'll be seeing The Toasters at a club that's smaller than the Graceland. How cool is that we get to see one of the coolest second wave ska bands in a venue that doesn't hold more than 200 people? Pretty fucking cool is the answer.
Take it easy everybody.
