Sexual Preference: Straight, as far as I know. She did think men were funny when having sex before meeting the man she fell in love with, so she might just be Ninosexual. Or an extreme sap.

Bio/ History: On September 3rd 1973, at 6:28pm and 32 seconds, a bluebottle fly capable of 14,670 wing beats a minute landed on Rue St Vincent, Montmartre. At the same moment, on a restaurant terrace nearby, the wind magically made two glasses dance unseen on a tablecloth. Meanwhile, in a 5th-floor flat, 28 Avenue Trudaine, Paris 9, returning from his best friend's funeral, Eugène Colère erased his name from his address book. At the same moment, a sperm with one X chromosome, belonging to Raphaël Poulain, made a dash for an egg in his wife Amandine. Nine months later, Amélie Poulain was born.
Amélie’s mother was a high school teacher, sadly killed when a Canadian tourist threw herself from the church, landing on top of Amélie’s mother. Her father made a shrine for her in their backyard where the garden gnome and the deceased were finally reunited.
As a child, Amélie was diagnosed with a heart condition by her father, an ex-army doctor, which is why they couldn’t travel around. Amélie does not actually have a heart condition; her father merely isn’t the sort to cuddle, and the only time when he touched her was during the monthly examinations, in reaction to which little Amélie’s heart raced so much that her father thought she was ill. Even as a child she had a remarkable imagination and intelligence. When she turned 20 she moved the neighbourhood of Montmartre in Paris, where she waits in a café, ‘Les Deux Moulins’. Since discovering that she had the ability to help people and make them happier, this is how she spends her free, and sometimes working hours. This ability isn’t supernatural, she just helps people by, say, giving them something valuable from their youth; walking a blind man around town and describing all the little wonderful things; making a letter that was supposedly found in the remains of a crashed airplane for a sad woman whose husband left her, thus making her believe that her husband still loved her.
One day she finds a photo album of torn-up photos, belonging to a man she saw scraping up pieces of said photos a short while back. She starts a campaign that starts out to give him back his album, but ends up as charming him. She attracts his attention in several creative ways, along with her ongoing campaign of ‘making people happy’.
Such is the life of Amélie. It’s not exciting for anyone else, but what happens is big for her.
