My hubby and son were having boys' night out, so I decided to go to SF and see Avenue Q. Fortunately I got a really great seat (3rd row center orchestra) last Friday. I think this is the first time I went to see a show in SF during weekday. I was worried about Bay Are traffic but I was driving against it, so up until I got to the bay bridge, it was a smooth drive.
I haven't seen Ave Q before but heard the OBC CD many times, so I really enjoyed the performance. I thought the cast sounded just like OBC, which was a bit odd. Still it was a steller performance and the audience loved it. I didn't think the simulated puppet sex scene was too offensive like other people said (for PG viewing). If I had my son, he didn't really know what was going on, I'm sure he would have thought they were fighting or wrestling (in naked, which he would be giggling). I was up close, but if you were sitting at the rear orchestra or on the balcony, you wouldn't know what's going on either I bet.
I didn't come home until past midnight and I was very tired, but I'm working at home (ha ha really) today, so it's okay. I think I can do this (weekday show) more often if I can time right.
The actor who played Princeton reminded me of Chris in JB Sherri Tour for some reason. Speaking of JB tour, I got great group tickets and we'll be sitting in the pit!
