A friend of Katie's called her up yesterday and told her that she came across 4 seats to Friday night's St. Cloud River Bats game and asked if we wanted to come along.
Last night was the home opener and the River Bats hosted the Duluth Huskies. For the last 10 years, the River Bats had been playing at Dick Putz Field at the Midwest Athletic Complex. This was their first game in the newly remodeled Joe Faber Field (still at the MAC) and it was nice to see everything with a little more fresher look.
I'm also surprised at how loyal some of the people are to the River Bats. There were about 2,300 people at the game. Youl could tell that the majority of the people that attended weren't there because they got some free tickets. The crowd was really into it and that's great to see.
The game was a blast. It was a beautiful night and we all sat out and drank some beers and watched amateur baseball in Central Minnesota. The Bats nickle-and-dimed the Huskies, 12-6, for the win.
After the offensive fireworks, the River Bats, after the game, filled the night time air with more fireworks, celebrating their home opener victory and their first game at Faber. The fireworks were surprisingly decent and the rain held out just long enough for us to get back to the car.
