Blue Streak

Final scores from this weekend:

Friday - SCSU 3 1 Colgate
Saturday - SCSU 3 1 Colgate

Mark that down folks! That is an 8 game-winning streak for our beloved Huskies of St. Cloud State University and an 11 game unbeaten streak. The 11 game unbeaten streak is a school record for SCSU. This was a great sweep of a pretty good non-conference team going into the December break. I really believe that Colgate is an excellent team. They played really hard all weekend. Their lineup was filled with some real bruisers. They played a great physical game and brought the pain to the Huskies. In fact, I think a squad like Colgate's could really do some damage in a conference like the WCHA. From what I have heard, the ECACHL (Colgate's conference) calls a helluva lot more penalties than were taken this weekend (granted the ref, Albers, let a lot go). The WCHA is notorious for more of a "letting them play" mentality compared to the other conferences. When Colgate saw that they weren't going to call the ticky-tacky pussy penalties they would have seen out East, they played great.

Despite sweeping, SCSU slipped to #3 in WCHA (1 point behind Colorado College). They will, more than likely, climb higher than their current position of the #8 team in the nation in tomorrow's national polls.

After Christmas, the Huskies restart play in a the Sheraton/TD Banknorth Tournament in Burlington, Vermont. Their first opponent will be Union College. If victorious they will play the winner of RPI/Vermont.

SCSU resumes their WCHA schedule against the Seawolves of UAA on January 5th and 6th, 2007.
