Since Monday night, when I tried to login to my Paypal Account, I am getting the same problem over and over again.
Each time I login, I just get a "General Paypal Error" screen :
Clearly a generic error message, probably coded into the website to capture unknown errors.
If I follow the instructions, I get back to the home page and I have to login again and then I just get the same error message. A vicious circle.
I've called the "Helpline" 3 times now ... they've tried all the usual gubbins ... clear your cache, delete your cookies etc. They even tried restarting my browser and my computer! None of these work.
I have tried to access my account on two different computers, with two different operating systems and two different browsers (Firefox and IE). Same error each time. So, in my simplistic mind, this must mean a problem at their end, not mine.
I am not the only person with this problem ... there are threads on the Ebay boards and Paypal Developer boards with people having the exact same problem.
I am pissed off that no-one can help me or anyone else solve this problem.
I have money in my account and auctions I've won and need to pay for and also my own auctions ending next week, for which I will need a working method of getting payments in. Right now, I don't have that.
I have today e-mailed every single Paypal address I can find and also called Ebay UK Head Office and left a message on the Managing Directors answerphone. This needs to be fixed and soon. It's not really the fact that they've got issues ... it's more the fact that no-one anywhere seems to know how to fix it and/or that the problem is generic across many people. All the helpline folks do is read out a script of "solutions" and workarounds. Pathetic.
Btw .. this is not affecting everyone ... Nance can log in to her account fine! WHY NOT ME?!
*edit*
haha ... someone from Paypal head office just called me back, as a result of my answer phone message for the MD. Let's hope this helps ... at least the person speaking to me was able to converse properly. No offence to the Indian team, I am sure they're trying their best, but it's so much easier to get your point across to someone who has English as their first language.
