Apparently it was Lego's 75th Anniversary on Friday ... so, to celebrate, here's a post about my more recent purchases ;) (tenuous link central)

Recently, I have bought three new sets ... the first one being 7665 Republic Cruiser (which I bought about 4 weeks ago)

This is the ship that the Jedi's use to go and try to negotiate a settlement to the Trade Federations blockade of Naboo in Episode I. Quite a nice model ... a lot bigger than I expected it to be. Certainly nice to have a bit of colour in the Star Wars universe ... not had red before.

And then, last week, I bought two new sets ... 7661 Jedi Starfighter and Hyperring ...

This is quite a cool set too ... I've got a few versions of the Jedi Starfighter, but this is the first one that comes with the Hyperring (which allows the ship to travel through deep space by giving extra engines etc). A nice set, looks cool on the shelf, but comes with an uber-cool Kit Fitso figure :D

Anndddd finally, I bought 7666 Hoth Base ...

I have to say, I think this set is my fave our of the three sets, mainly because it has so many little elements and plenty of figures. I quite like the Hoth Base doors ... obviously they're not big enough, but they're still pretty cool, with a nice working mechanism for opening etc. I like the fact that we get an official probe droid and more snowtroopers is always a bonus. New snowspeeder is nice too, although there are too many stickers :(

Originally, I was going to buy the first and third sets above in America, thus saving myself about £30, but when I saw the size of the boxes, I was convinced myself that I was better off paying the extra cash than risk not being able to get them home in my suitcase! hehe

I shall save the US purchases for the smaller sets which are coming out around now / soon.

(excuse the use of packshots ... not taken any pics of the sets on my own shelves yet)
