Baseball is now done for me. My Tigers went into the month of September with a seven game lead in the AL Central. Then they started fumbling and losing some dumb games (THE ROYALS? SERIOUSLY?) and the Minnesota freakin Twins went on a streak winning like 17 of their last 21, including games against Detroit. It all culminated in an UNBELIEVABLE tie breaker game between the two last night that went a full 12 innings. I'm pretty sure you won't see a more dramatic baseball game throughout the entire post season. Do I hate the Twins? Sure. But I still can't bring myself to root for the Yankees. So, for at least the duration of the ALDS, go Twinkies.

The Bug is five years old today. Insane. We started her in kindergarten this year, rolling the dice on her being a year younger than her classmates. She's doing great. Her teacher adores her, she does well, and she gets along well with her classmates. The only points that have us a little stupefied is that she's quiet when it comes to participating. She's so loud at home it's hard for us to imagine her being timid out in the world. She is also the object of affection for apparently all fifteen boys in her class. I wasn't expecting to have to deal with this for at least another ten years. Grrrrrr.

Work has been insane. All kinds of crazy ass shit. As a result I'm a smoker again. Yes, I've been that stressed (and yes, I'm that weak). It started with racism ballshiat last month. For a week everything was fine, then there was petty bickering and a lot of sick time. One kid missed work because he was in jail. We had rain days that put us back. Then last Friday the wind was blowing 50 mph so we obviously couldn't work. I offered the guys a chance to make it up the next day, Saturday, with the promise that if they got their shit done in five or six hours I'd still pay them for a full eight. Pretty nice deal, yeah? Only two guys showed up. Then the following Monday I was short three guys, one of which (the guy who had lost a day to jail) was a no call no show, same as Saturday. I left him a voice mail telling that if I didn't hear from him in five minutes he wouldn't have a job. Yeah, he didn't call. So Monday sucked.

Today, though, I'm in a better mood. We have only a few days left on this application, then we start our last app of the year. We should be done a month from Friday. So, for the most part I'm happy.

ALSO!!!!!!!! I hit a goal as of Sunday morning. I weight in at 199.2 pounds. For the first time since I was a sophomore or freshman in high school, I am under 200 pounds. I'm very proud of myself. I'm not going to slouch on it now that I've hit it. I have a plan for this winter off season to be in the office all morning (working on my book(s), mainly) and then going to the gym every afternoon and doing some weight training every other day. The next goal is 175. I probably won't hit it, but if I get under 195 or 190 I'll be pretty damn happy.

And spring training for the tigers is like five months away...

exercise, work, baseball, eowyn
