Since adopting my father-in-law's guitars, Amanda has decided at my urging to learn how to play guitar. Today she was practicing on her dad's guitar and had just finished up when Conn came in.
"All done, Mom?" he said. "All done wocking out, Mom?"
Awesome. The last week or two has really seen Conn starting to talk more, and in sentences even. One day I was tied up doing something and saw Lanie had something she shouldn't. With no one else to turn to I asked Conn to grab it. He did. He grabbed it from her and brought it to me and said, "Got it, Dad!" he likes to bring me my shoes when I'm getting ready to go somewhere and say, "Got it, Dad!" Amanda took him and Lanie with her to take Eowyn to school today. When they came home, he grabbed a handful of what little snow is left in the yard and held it up to amanda. "Ball, Mom! Snowball!" Awesome.
AJ sadly didn't show much interest for learning guitar. He said he did last fall, but then quickly fell out of love with the idea of it. But, today he told Amanda that he'd like some drums for his birthday. You know, I'd always feared this day would come. Wasn't looking forward to it. But I shall embrace it. If my kid wants to be a musician (or a wannabe musician as the old joke goes), I will encourage it. I've already reached out to a guy I know who mentioned a month or two ago that he had some kid sized drums that he was looking to unload. I'm going to have one loud damn house.
