I realized today that I haven't written a good substantial post that didn't include bitching about one of my jobs. So here we go.

Today was a good Connor and Daddy day. I went into the office for a couple of hours to make sure the building was still in one piece (it was), then I came to the house and picked up Conn. We went and got our hairs cut, went to Wal-Mart and Menards to pick up a few odds and ends, had lunch at the new and improved McDonalds (which did NOT have the McRib today as I had been led to believe), then we even went to my folks house and helped him hang his Christmas lights on the house. It was awesome. Conn never once ran away from me. When out with the fam he often won't want to hold my hand; today he was insistent about holding my hand. Made me feel awesome. We had a kick ass time just me and my boy.

After finishing up at my dad's, we came home to try and hang my Christmas lights. Cluster. Fuck. My lights (which were my dad's old house lights) are starting to crap out and were quite frustrating. We've got about 2/3 of the lights up and need swap one section out with a new section and it'll just be a huge pain in my ass. That'll be for a later date.

I have a funeral tomorrow. My cousin's husband has been fighting cancer for about a year and a half. Well, had been. Just like my father-in-law, he went into remission for a while. Then the cancer, being a cock sucking whore, decided to come back with a vengeance and took him. I'm going with the folks tomorrow; Amanda has doctor appoints for the kids and Eowyn has school so it just doesn't work out for her to come.

I hate funerals as it is, and I often feel like I could just do without my dad's side of the family. They're a bunch of close minded, neo-conservative farmers who once ignored me one Christmas because I had decided to grow my hair long. One aunt (whose son-in-law's funeral we'll be attending) threw a fit at my Catholic Confirmation because I was wearing a Medal of St. Christopher which meant I was blaspheming. She cut off one of her daughters for over a year because she converted from the Lutheran faith to Catholicism.

All funerals suck, but this one will be a doozy.

conn, cancer
