Leaving night shifts leads to jet lag and insomnia and thinking deep uncomfortable and maybe slightly random thoughts, such as,"when the bankers invested in the subprime morgages, or indeed any other bubble they diud so in the full knowledge that it will burst. But by nature they don't know when it will burst. They also know that if they don't keep betting on it they lose out and get fired, so it's in their short term interest to keep going as long as possible."
I wonder if this is the same for our use of the planet's resources. We can't go on like this for long but we can't stop either.
