I took Natalie to the dentist last week. She had an infected tooth and they gave her some antibiotics and scheduled an extraction for today. The way she handled the whole affair cracked me up. Apparently she turned down the laughing gas because she didn't see the point in it. However, that didn't stop her from giggling uncontrollably throughout the procedure. I don't know how she thinks rending bone from flesh can be fun, but I guess I'm glad she took it that way. Honestly I'm rather freaked out by the dentist. I occupied myself by drawing on an Etch-a-Sketch. When she went in, Natalie suspected I was drawing a penis; when she came out I'd finished drawing the equation for an N-body state transition matrix.
I wasn't able to get a hold of my mom earlier today. I hope she has running water by now. I haven't heard from my dad since Monday. He was supposed to arrive back in Texas today. The official word is to stay the F' out of Galveston, so who knows how long it'll be before he gets to even assess the damage to his property. I got encouraging news from my brother David, though. His place was largely unscathed, and he's staying at a friend's place until basic utilities are restored.
