First of all, happy birthday sugareey !

Since I have new friends on my flist and my Due South vid post yesterday produced a bit of curiosity on a couple of people, I'd like to once again pimp my other beloved fandom, Due South.

First, a teaser:

Why You Should Watch Due South

To begin, let me explain what Due South is. Due South is a Canadian movie and a television show. The movie was so popular that it spawned a show that lasted four seasons. The time span of this movie and show is between 1994 and 1999. It is a crime comedy about a Mountie who comes to Chicago on the trail of his father's killers, and for reasons that don't need explaining at this juncture, stayed in Chicago as liaison to the Canadian consulate.

Benton Fraser

is a straight-laced, do-gooding Mountie who has a deaf wolf and will put anything into his mouth. His first partner, Ray Vecchio,

(SURPRISE!CROSSDRESSING, lolz. Vecchio is on the right)

is a smart-alack Italian and streetwise cop. I call him Original Recipe Ray. In the third season he has to go deep uncover in the mob and Ray Kowalski

(Extra Crispy Ray) assumes his identity. Extra Crispy Ray is Polish, puts smarties in his coffee, and always goes with his gut instinct.

I didn't find much slash with Original Recipe Ray, but the show was so good that I just watched it because it was hilarious and I love Fraser to pieces. When Extra Crispy Ray came in, I was only okay with him, but by the end of the third season I Saw The Gay Light and fell in love with his character.

Now, why should you watch Due South? Don't you already have enough fandoms and shit to do? Well, so did I. So I have seven reasons why you should try it:

1.) It's a show that's finished, so you don't have to keep up with it and can watch it at your own pace.
2.) You can just watch the movie and decide if you like it enough to watch the show.
3.) You know you have at least one person you know personally who can squee with you. *vogues*
4.) The fandom is small enough that you won't get lost, but big and alive enough that there are new fics, new vids, and lots to see and do and talk about.
5.) Paul Gross is the hottest thing on this planet. Callum Keith Rennie is seriously growing on me, however, though I like tall dark and handsome better. CKR IS EQUALLY HOT
6.) The show ends happily and doesn't leave you hanging.
7.) The Gay. My flist is nothing but slashers, so I need not explain why underwater CPR

If your interest is piqued, then by all means, let's get you hooked up! To begin your Due South experience, simply watch the movie. It is considered the show's pilot episode. You can find it on YouTube in ten parts. If you enjoyed the movie and would like to begin the show, I know of a super sekrit Due South (and it's related fandoms) download community where you can download all of the episodes. Just PM me and I'll tell you all about it. *Also, if you are on my flist, I now have the entire series uploaded here.

In closing, I just want to say to all my SPN friends that my love of both shows is all-encompassing and true, but in different ways. Really weird having two huge ass fandoms at once, but it's ok, just more love. (Psst....Ray Kowalski owns a black GTO. What is with bad ass men and muscle cars??)
