Summary: Kirk is court-martialed when he is unable to prove that he did not cause the murder of a crewman. Six months later, the charges are lifted and Kirk takes command again, but now he must contend with both his new unflattering waistline and the torrid love affair between Spock and Admiral Pike.
Notes: I don't even want to go into the hell this fic gave me since the April of 2011, when the poor soul lifeisastranger won a bid for help_japan. I can at least say that I have paid interest and have added more than 17,000 words to the minimum word count, plus a mini-mix of songs inspired by the story (no cover art, because I tried and it looked terrible, trust me.) Beta by the lovely asmallcoat.

I will no longer be posting fic on livejournal, mainly because I don't like splitting long stories into parts. All new stories will now be posted solely at the AO3 archive. I will still make a fic post on lj and when I have a new chapter of Follow the Leader, I will upload the story to AO3 and post new chapters there.
