TOS episode thought and STXI K/S recs...something for everyone!
All Our Yesterdays. I've always been unimpressed with this episode, but for some reason I wanted to go back and bask in the lovely Spones involved, when I realized something. I call Spones my 'recreational ship'; if there was no Captain Kirk, I'd be shipping that as my main pairing. But because there is Kirk, I've noticed that practically the only time there are Spock/McCoy moments is when Kirk is not actually around them. There's this episode, then there's The Tholian Web, then Bread and Circuses, all of them happen when Kirk's just not present, and as an added bonus, they usually kind of revolve around Kirk anyways. Not in this episode, but I had a delicious epiphany about that: If the show had decided to send Kirk instead of McCoy, there would have been gay sex in that cave. Oh yeah. It would be like Amok Time Part Deux: The Porn Edition. Spock in caveman mode, telling the truth and letting his emotions run free?
And now a few recent STXI K/S recs that made me happy recently. :D

The History of Wonderboy and Young Nasty Man Little late for Halloween, but omg, an AU that's absolutely fantastic! Kirk and the gang are Freshmen in high school and they go check out a haunted house on Halloween night, but something truly scary happens. I can't get over this fic and why it's not recced to hell everywhere. It does the details so freaking well, from McCoy and Scotty being seniors instead of Freshmen, to Spock's mom and dad just being hippies, to the danger of a real life murderer and how real kids would react upon coming face-to-face with one. Simple amazing and good.
The Pinto!Nanny Fic Does this have one single title, lol? Doesn't matter because you probably have seen this recced. I don't read Pinto, but enough people recced it that I had to try it and holy crap, I had to read a few more because this one was excellent. It's about Zach being a manny and Chris has a ten-year-old son, and the author manages to make me really like the kid because he's so unique and hilarious. As a warning, it's a bit hard to navigate as it's posted weird, but just try to follow the chapter titles and don't be like me and think it's not being updated when it totally was finished for like, two weeks. *facepalm*
Holographic Love Another fic in which I can't understand why it's not more popular. This is the only angsty one I'm reccing because it still kind of has a happy ending, sort of. Kirk is in love with Spock, so he programs a holograph of Spock so that he can be with him. The questions it asks, like can a holograph actually feel love and be real, I love thinky thoughts like this and it made me feel sorry for a fucking hologram, holy shit. The way that the hologram doesn't even know it's a hologram until later is really great writing, and god, just love, love, love.
Celebrations Perfect holiday fic where Kirk gets Spock to celebrate different holidays with him. What makes this amazing is the uniqueness of the holidays (some are from different planets.) Absolutely sweet and I know I'll be reading this on Christmas day.
