It really CAN get more gay

Right, rewatching Amok Time because the new episode meta I've been following just came out, so now I get to delve into it again and man, how is it that it's even gayer than before? I adore this meta, it's so thorough and hilarious. I mean, I was laughing insanely at the description of the fight scene. My mind is so blown with more details of this special episode, and I can't believe the things I never thought of or paid attention to.

Take the pointy object Spock hides behind his back around Kirk. I always just wrote it off and figured it was Spock going nutso with pon farr and that he would go all Vulcanized on Kirk's ass and hurt him if he didn't get to go back to his home planet. Well...then in this meta she said it was so that Spock would stop himself from jumping Kirk, and my first reaction was no, that's reading a little too much into it, I believe. Then she pointed some things out and then I thought about it more and good GOD, I'm starting to believe it's true, and here's why:

1.)Spock only holds the pointy object when Kirk's around, and only has shaking hands when Kirk is around. He didn't have a pointy object or shaking hands in front of McCoy when he wanted to give him a physical (he only nervously tapped the bed frame) and when he was alone with Nurse Chapel, check the hands: perfectly steady.

2.) If it was because he would attack Kirk, why would he want to do that? The first time he holds this pointy object, it's before the orders for Altair VI are given and why would he attack Kirk when eventually Kirk does say they're going to Vulcan? Spock is still shaking and shit after Kirk leaves.

3.) Spock is very clearly not in plak tow, the blood fever, when he will fight to take a mate. Nope, all he has right now is a huge surge of adrenaline and hormones telling him to go have sex.

Pon farr is some serious shit, and the thought of Spock having to keep something in his hands, ready to stop himself before he all out rapes someone, is a sobering thought. Later in the episode, Spock miraculously speaks during the plak tow (T'Pau is surprised that he could, as she said that he wouldn't be able to earlier on) to beg T'Pau not to let him fight Kirk, because he knows that he will mindlessly kill him if given the chance. Holy. Mackerel.

Oh, and my new favorite scene in the entire episode (besides Spock's smile and OMGWTFYAY JIM!!!) is the part where Spock tells Kirk about pon farr. I mean, just LOOK when Spock first mentions 'biology' and Kirk walks up to stand by him. As soon as Kirk begins to walk up to him, Spock throws his head to the side and breathes and holy crap, he totally can't handle being close to Kirk. Then watch Kirk through the scene. It's all a mixture of concern and trying to lighten the atmosphere until the end, when Spock says, "...return home, to take a wife, or die." Kirk is visibly stricken, and his voice does this heartbending break and he all but flees the room. You can't argue that it's because he knows Spock will die, because McCoy told him that already, so what is he specifically reacting to at that moment? Well, it's the first time Spock mentioned that he has to take a wife. Before that, I imagine Kirk just thought he would go to Vulcan, get laid, and that would be that.

Oh boys. .

I'm glad the meta came out, because now I'm even more excited about having a Kirk/Spock day September 15th, the day Amok Time first aired. Hell, it'd be enough to just have an Amok Time day and not be exclusively K/S, because that shit is legendary and that episode probably single handedly either fathered slash or made it into a group sport. I'm already devising macros and fun stuff as we speak.

slash, macros, meta, boldly slashing where i've never slashed, space husbands
