Out of nowhere I got whisked away to watch Harry Potter, so that was cool. Too bad I spent most of it longing to sneak in and see Star Trek for a third time.
Unpopular opinion, but this movie sucked balls. There were brilliant parts, like anything with Ron, and the scene with Harry force-feeding Dumbledore that poison was awesome. The sectumsempra scene was sweet, even if it made no sense for Snape to randomly be around to save Draco instead of Harry finding him himself (btw, DRACO MALFOY IS HOT, YOU GO TOM FELTON. UNF.) Luna was cool, her character is right as rain and it made me really bitter about there being no Harry/Luna. But for the most part, I was unimpressed.
Right, I know that they were going to cut a lot out, all the movies do that and that doesn't bother me so much. But why are they adding shit in like the burrow being blown up? I have a theory that they only blew it up so we didn't have to have Bill and Fleur's wedding there because they weren't even in this movie and apparently Bill will never show because there was no attack of Death Eaters at Hogwarts where he gets mauled by Fenrir. Seriously lame at the end, seriously. Apparently Death Eaters at most are vandals because all they did was let Snape do his thang, bust up some of the Great Hall, and randomly set Hagrid's house on fire. Seriously, you have the opportunity to do all sorts of fucked up things and that's it? Furthermore, riddle me this: they inserted the burrow blowing up, took out the fight at Hogwarts, and they kept in quidditch? What the ever loving fuck?
Now let me rant about my least favorite character, whom I hate even more now. Ginny "wet napkin" Weasley. The acting was dreadful, and I couldn't even try to identify or care about her. In one movie she does not one interesting thing, she sucked the soul out of any scene she was in, she manages to become a damsel in distress by "bravely" running through flames to try to save Harry, and even though I never liked Harry/Ginny, I'm now so against it that I want to scream and it's inevitable. Even the one part where she was awesome in the books, when she fought Death Eaters at Hogwarts, was not there because they left that part out. Are they just lazy, writing her like this because there's no point developing anything properly since we all know how it ends?
Everyone should watch
A Very Potter Musical, because I'm making this my new canon and I swear to god, I refuse to see the next two movies because I know that if I hated the book, I will not like the movie, especially since it's going to be the same director. I'll also be uploading the musical as soon as it's done running through all the gizmos I have from turning MP4 files to one big avi to a smaller avi that's not two and a half gigs, so look out for that if you're fans. ;)
