I've decided to keep a running commentary as I'm reading, because I'll never remember what I wanted to say at the end!
This line made me literally "aww" out loud: “Because you make rising at an ungodly hour more bearable,” PAINFULLY adorable I tell you! Love it so much ;D
I almost died when Arthur told Uther that he hates the way he speaks to Merlin! ROFL, that was hilarious and terrible all at once. I actually gasped out loud *grins* ;)
Loved the conversation that ensued between Merlin and Arthur when Arthur first admitted to him that he thought something was wrong. I like how instead of making him hide it from Merlin he instead chose to confide in him. Also, I found the whole conversation very IC! You captured their banter so well here ;)
Also, I liked how you used the concept of Arthur having to tell the truth, but only when he is asked a direction question. It feels more natural that way (as opposed to something like "Liar Liar", for example).
So great so far! Can't wait to read the rest :D
