My CardNotes: This basically takes place during Forest’s pregnancy as a result of alien abduction, roughly before his first baby bump.
Forest sat in front of the doctor’s desk as he waited for the results of his medical checkup. Ever since that “incident” with the telescope a few weeks ago, he had been feeling rather nauseous. Curious to find out about the main source of this illness, he visited the doctor to find out about it, hoping to get the answers from them.
Two minutes later, the doctor had finally arrived with the X-ray results from last week on his right hand. This must be it, Forest thought.
“Sir,” the doctor said as he handed the results to Forest, “here are the results from the checkup last week.”
After looking at the result and the notes that came with it, Forest’s eyes widened. It can’t be. This can’t be real. I need to ask him again for a reexamination.
“Can I ask for a reexamination?” he asked. “I think there are major flaws in this one.”
“I’m sorry, sir,” the doctor replied. “But all results of our examinations have proven to be 100% accurate.”
Those words struck Forest hard. With a condition like this, he won’t be able to earn money and provide income for his family. Even worse, he might face the same hardships Karen often faces. He felt that there must be some way to prove these doctors wrong. Whatever it was, this must be some sort of a mistake.
“Look, the results look too unnatural and absurd.” He spoke up in an irritated tone. “There’s no way that this could happen to a man like me.”
“I have already told you that our observations have been proven to be 100% accurate. Even if you don’t believe it, the evidence is still there, and there’s no way that we could revise it.”
“Accurate or not, I’m not admitting that I’m pregnant. And nor will I embarrass myself by staying at home.”
“But sir, we highly suggest that you should stay at home for the sake of the baby’s health. We certainly don’t want to risk harming your health as well. In fact, we even contacted your employers, and they’ve agreed to put you on paternity leave.”
“Screw that stupid policy! I have a wife and lots of kids to take care of, and you’re telling me to stay at home and rest?”
“Don’t give up hope yet. Your employers have told us that they’ll give you some salary in order to assist you and your family.”
“I don’t need any assistance!” Forest shouted angrily as he stood up. “I can still…” However, he was suddenly cut off by a feeling of nausea overtaking him, and he suddenly held his mouth with his right hand while placing his left hand on his stomach.
The doctor quickly walked towards him and relieved him. “I hate to say ‘I told you so’, but…” his voice was soft and stern at the same time, “you really need to rest at home until the baby is born. Then you can resume your job while your wife can help you raise the baby.”
Upon hearing those words, Forest finally sighed. He certainly wouldn’t want to let anything hamper his job, but when faced with a situation like this, he had come to the decision that he had no choice but to accept the doctor’s words. Moreover, he was deeply grateful about the assistance needed to help him and his family.
“Fine,” he said as he and the doctor stood up. “I have to accept this, even if I don’t like the sound of it.”
“That’s better,” the doctor replied as he handed the medical prescriptions to Forest. “Make sure you get plenty of food and rest, and you’ll do fine.”
“Thank you,” said Forest as he shook hands with the doctors and walked out of the office. It will be a matter of time when the baby will be born and he can resume his job.
