Not Made to Last

I've been chatting with this guy a little bit since I met him at a pool party this past summer. It's nothing serious, or even beginning... we just text every now and then. I'm physically attracted to him and he is attracted to me. We were texting last night, I had sent a pic of my beard (and I was shirtless so my shoulders and a few inches down my chest could be seen) and he responded back about how fuzzy I am. He sent a screenshot of his phone which was showing the country song he was listening to (We've talked about how much I love country and I told him he should listen to more :) ). I responded "I don't see any fur" and a short while later he sends another pic from what looks like it was taken of his rear view mirror, him reflecting with just his eye and part of his head. I texted back "That's not good enough." So then I get one of his mustache and him saying "Fine, I'll just show you my mustache and make you jealous" Haha, because I am jealous of his thick 'stache. So I again respond "That's still not good enough." To which he finally says "Well what do you want then." I, not thinking, respond "Everything." So he responds "Whoah! I thought you were more conventional." Of which I am, so I explain I meant EVERYTHING.. as in the world.

That all of a sudden made a few connections in my head though. On the one hand it's a relief and comfort that someone recognizes my personality and choices and respects them. 99% of others I"ve come across would be trying everything under the sun to get what they want. So, for consideration I am grateful. But, I also know from past chats that he doesn't treat others like. And there are other non-conventional things that while I don't think him evil for, I definitely don't condone.

So now I'm left asking myself a couple of questions. Does it really mean anything? If it went anywhere would it even last? I'm leaning towards no. Because it's not him. It's just who he's being because of his interest in me. Part of old fashioned is wanting something that IS old fashioned, not just acts that way because it will help get them what they want. Although, I don't think that's the only reason. I do really think there is a level of respect. Not that all of this matters, though, I guess. A while back I realized it wasn't going to be anything because of "code" differences. Even if none of that existed there's still the very long distance. I do enjoy chatting with him though and I hope that continues.

guys, personality, old fashioned
