Well it's been a mostly inconsequential last of couple of days, nothing terribly exciting has happened. I did go to the desert last weekend and saw one of buds' camel farm, one of their falcons and did some four wheeling. Of course, sheesha happened several times as well. I got a haircut, which I'll post some pics of soon; I'm about to get some new glasses so I thought I would combine the two to make for extra fun and excitement.
I have of course been enjoying the car immensely. But I think I'll stop gushing about it so as not to annoy you guys anymore.
Arabic is going well...though I've noticed how much I understand is really related to what dialect is being spoken. If it's Lebanese I might understand as much 80 to 85%, pretty similar for Egyptian. But if it's Emirati this drops to about 60%, and the classical Arabic that is spoken on News broadcasts further lessens this to about 35-40%. Obviously once I start learning classical (after the current class is done) I expect this to be rectified.
A good buddy of mine is in town for a volleybal tournament. His name is Hani and he's playing for the American University of Cairo as a part of an ongoing sports festival that is being hosted here. We went to high shool together in Kuwait, were on several similar sports teams, and part of the same gang - ACT (African Coalition Thugs). I went over to AUD and saw him, and got his contact info. One of the first things he commented on was that "I was getting big" which, coming from him, is a hell of a compliment. I'm going to go checkout his game tonight at 9 pm and we'll probably go out a couple of times before he leaves too. He looked a lot like I remembered, his voice was just much more gravelly due to his smoking. I'll make sure to take some pics in the next couple of days.
Ok me thinks thats me update for now. Though I must bitch about something, with the exception of Ghazaly and Andrea no one has given me any ideas for car names. People have given plenty of excuses as to WHY they haven't, but still no action. Come on guys, you're smart and creative. You can do it.
