As I described in my user info, Dubai is seeking to become a world reknown tourist  destination.  Under the vision of Sheikh Mohammed, the Crown Prince of this Emirate, they wish to become increasingly less dependent on oil, with a projected 10 million tourists a year by 2010.  To attract these visitors Dubai has done a number of things to make ( Read more... )

I sooo don't like the Burj. I've been inside it and it's just tacky to me. Give me Jumeirah Beach any day.

Jumeirah Beach is indeed nice and more my style. However, for those that desire a private butler for their room, it doesnt get any better than the Burj.

The Iranian woman who designed the Burj won architecture's highest award...the name escapes me at the moment, but it's like the Oscars for architects...

According to the mighty google, WS Atkins was responsible for the burj, a UK based engineering consultancy. Ahem.
