So I know nothing about Europe and need some suggestions for places to see. So all of you who are international travellers put on your thinking caps. The trip so far

London: I'd want to see the Tower of London, the Wax Museum, the British Museum and bum around Soho and Bond Street, mainly (great shopping there, and this is from a guy who normally loathes shopping).
Paris: The Louvre is always first on my agenda (you need at least a day or two to tour it all), after that the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur (a grand basilica located right in the middle of the artsy quarter), the Eiffel Tower if you're not afraid of heights, Notre Dame Cathedral (awesome place!), and when you're ready to drop after all that Les Deux Magots café, where Hemmingway liked to hang out. :)
Cannes I don't know, I've never been there.
Germany...I'm not sure what you like to tour, but I'd probably pick Berlin first or Munich, but I'm a little biased, I think the Rhein River region where I live is the greatest spot in Germany (and we have the best wines *g*).
Cologne, definitely the Cathedral. Otherwise I haven't seen much of Cologne since we were just there on a stop-over between trains.

My daughter is a great shopper so I'll mention Soho and Bond Street. I've been to Paris in 2007 and absolutely loved it. My daughter hasn't been so I'll be taking her to all those places you mentioned. Went right to the top of the Eiffel Tower - it was fantastic. Notre Dame was just amazing. One of the few places we didn't see was Montmartre and the Versailles Palace which I'll remedy this time.
Munich and Berlin sound great. Other people have recced them as well. Def. the cathedral in Cologne and we're going to do a one-day river tour.
