(no subject)
so i had an awesome weekend :) it made me happy!
i came home from work tonight, and there was a letter in my/lisa's mailbox....
a lil white envelope, completely non descript....
addressed to "occupent" and then our room number, and address...
the return address... is a Hotmail email address....
the post stamp is in Wausau Wisconsin.
Accompanying this letter is a memo from the hall director and assistant hall director which reads:
Welcome back to Drackett Tower. We are disappointed to notify you of a disturbing event that may upset many students within our community. it has been brought to our attention that a disturbing letter has been mailed to many Drackett Tower residents... although actual resident names were not written on the envelopes, the use of "occupent" and the complete mailing address sufficiently meets the standard for US Mail delivery.
after reviewing the contents, we consulted with universtiy staff members and it was determined that we have a legal obligation to deliver these letters. we hope you understand that if there had been a choice, we would refuse to put them in your boxes. we are saddened that you will find the letter today along with this notice. we will leave it to your discretion whether or not you choose to read it or dispose of it immediately.
it is unclear to us why someone would have taken it upon themselves to create such a statement that will obviously be hurtful to many who live in our community. in light of this, we encourage you to discuss this situation among yourselves and with staff members in Drackett Tower. in addition, we are exploring the possibility of having a community meeting to discuss this situation. finally, the university housing continues to investigate this situation and updates will be shared as they become available.
please be sure to reach out should there be anything that you need as you attempt to understand something that does not make much sense. we have personally struggled with this, and we encourage you to follow-up with us or another Drackett Tower staff member should you need to talk.

Lisa and I talked on the phone, and i read her the memo.... she said "don't open it, till i'm home please... i want to be there.... if we decide to open it."
so here i am.... this letter sitting next to me on the desk.... memo folded around it....
