Saw HP7. No spoilers except to say, in a statement that encompasses my general feel for the movie, that I forgot how utterly useless Ginny is in the films.

I could never figure out if Wright is just a wooden actress, or she was told to act the Ginny role as wooden. Either way.....

I know. I haven't seen it yet, but in every other movie, she's dreadful. I think she makes a gorgeous model - she's really photogenic, but girl can't act. Total shame, because I think a lot more people would be H/G fans if they'd found an actress who could portray spunky!Ginny properly.

Kloves can't look past his boner for Emma Watson and Hermione to write properly for any other female character. Spunky Ginny was NEVER in the script so I think it's unfair to fault Bonnie for not portraying book Ginny.

True, but I do think that even Ginny's few lines could have been said with a bit more enthusiasm and facial expression. A very good actress can steal a scene even with limited dialogue.

It disappointed me when I saw it tonight as well. That's the big failure of the movies that REALLY gets me, is that ability to take otherwise VERY strong characters and strip them down to these useless people. I feel sorry for people who haven't read the books and don't know otherwise.
