(no subject)
The holiday meme love has made me so nostalgic. I intellectually KNOW all of you are so supportive and fabulous and kind, but it is always so amazing to see it firsthand. Thank you for missing me, even though I rarely post anything of interest besides fic (and even that, occasionally).
I thought I'd fill you all in on what's going on in my life--updates!
Teaching-
I enjoy it far more this year. Teach for America is tough because it actively tries to manipulate your sense of self worth, I think. Because our job is SO urgent, my managers and my colleagues all put a lot of pressure on me to put pressure on MYSELF, and it works. Many days I come away from teaching a class feeling as if I let them down because I wasn't on top of my game. But that pressure has ensured that I'm like, fifteen times less lazy than last year...and because of that, my class runs smoother, better, and the kids learn more. I teach Creative Writing for seniors, and they really love it. It's been super gratifying, and no one has thrown a desk or dead mouse or maced me this year, so that's an improvement.
ALSO. I am going to India! Teach for All (the umbrella organization that TFA falls under) accepted me as ONE of SIX in the entire NATION (I'm sorry, you guys are the only ones who will listen to me brag, no one else has patience) to get chosen to go for this education symposium. So January 4th to 8th I will be in Mumbai, learning how to teach better! Yay!
Love life-
Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah RIGHT. I'm a 23 year old virgin (worse than Clueless, man) but even worse, I have yet to KISS a guy without being so wasted I barely remember it the next day. When the time comes (if the time comes) I feel like I am going to be vaguely squidlike in my approach. Grrr.
Friendship-
You guys are my BFFls. Also ohcrapimonfire, who I love beyond reason. Everyone else tends to suck these days.
