Take a look you may see me on the ground, for I am the parasite of this town.

Dancing a jib in the church with chimes
A sign of the times today
And hearing no bell from the steeple tall
People all in dismay
Falling so far on a silver spoon
Making the moon for fun
And changing a rope for a size too small
People all get hung
Take a look and see me coming through
For I am the parasite that travels two by two

I don't know why alone hurts so much
Nor why this dead musicans voice cools fire
My heart of black coals still red
With the heat my love would lend
If only it weren't burnt out
If only it hadn't tried too many times before
No fuel left but hope
And what's left is fading fast
Take a look and see me all alone
For I am the parasite that sleeps awake

-g'night, sort of
