Not much, but at least it's something.

Ever since I got home from England (heck, even before I got home from England) I've been doing a lot of thinking about my academic future. As it stands, I have enough credits to graduate with a major in media studies with a minor in sociology. However, my faculty offers the option of earning either a three year or four year degree. Since I went to England after my third year, I imagine it isn't very hard to figure out which of those degrees I have. The thing that I've been tossing around in my head for nine months is whether or not going back for a fourth year would be all that beneficial to my future.

Any sane person would say "Duh, of course another year is beneficial", but the thing is, I don't want a job in the field I've been studying. Stupid, huh? The reason for that is because I find my subject pretty distasteful. I've enjoyed studying the media because I like being aware of how advertising works, how hidden agendas shape the type of news we get to see and how technology has hijacked our brains, but I would never want to work in a field that is so manipulative and trashy.

Basically, after studying the media for three years, I hate the media. D'oh.

So gaining more knowledge in a field that I don't intent on pursuing would be pretty pointless. However, I recognize that having a four year degree over a three year degree could be beneficial in any job hunting I do. Beyond media studies, if I went back I could improve my Sociology minor into a major, making my degree a double whammy in uselessness.

Anyways, after going back and forth over the pros and cons for ages, I've finally decided to apply to graduate. Woo!

So I go onto the student website, type in my ID and password and nothing happens. I try it again. Nothing. I try a different ID. Nothing. I try my student number. Nothing. Basically, any combination of various IDs and passwords yield no results. So I e-mail the academic counselor I spoke to before I left for England and... she's on maternity leave. So I take forever explaining my situation to the new guy. As it turns out, I was taken off the student list or some crap. I ask to be put back on. He does this and tells me that my ID and password should work now.

And it does! I click on the 'apply to graduate' button and... my degree is fucked. Like I said, I have a three year major in media studies with a minor in sociology. The degree that is listed online says I am applying for a three year sociology major with no mention of my media studies degree.

Wtf.

So I have to go in to the registrar's office tomorrow and get everything sorted out. After that's all done and dusted I could very well be done with my educational process. Which is actually pretty terrifying.

To take my mind off my the sham of a future I've set myself up with, I present a meme!

Name a TV show series in which you have seen every episode at least twice:
If you would have asked me three years ago, I would have said Heroes. Now it's Glee. And I have seen every episode more than two times. Probably five times average, some episodes more.

Name a (current) show you can't miss:
DVR certainly helps, but I would never miss Glee, The Biggest Loser or The Amazing Race.

Name an actor that would make you more inclined to watch a show:
Greg Grunberg, Misha Collins. Eh, I guess that's about it.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
Basically any actor who is super famous. When an actor is too well known then I never see the character they are portraying. I only see the actor. Although this actor is a movie star, George Clooney is a good example. It's never 'Danny Ocean just blew something up!' it's 'George Clooney just blew something up!', you know?

Name a show you can, and do, quote from.
I don't really quote shows that often, unless some reality TV shmuck says something awesomely trashy.

Name a show you like that no one else enjoys:
I don't mean to be a snob... but I have pretty good taste in television shows. I think every show that I watch the majority of people enjoy. If I had to choose one show, though, I would choose The Biggest Loser.

Name a TV show which you've been known to sing the theme song:
Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
GLEE. Everybody and their mother's mother should watch Glee. For such a new cast, the acting is pretty solid, the plot is pretty good, the style of the show is incredible. But most of all, the music is amazing. I really thought Glee was going to be some terribly cheesy rip off of High School Musical, but it isn't. The music is excellent, the performances are awesome. They sing at appropriate times. It's just a wonderful show.

Name a TV series you own:
My mom owns quite a few, but I only own Heroes and Glee, and only season one of Heroes.

What is your favourite episode of your favourite series?
Well, Glee is my favorite show by far right now, but it's really hard to choose the best episode. If I was going on the quality of the musical numbers, I'd say The Rhodes Not Taken. If I was going for the quality of the acting, I would say 'Mattress'. If I was going for plot satisfaction, I would say 'Sectionals'. If I was going for comedy, I would say 'Preggers'. In the end, though, I think I would have to choose the Pilot, because it launched this incredible series and gave me my most listened to song on my iPod.

A show you mean to watch, but you just haven't gotten around to yet:
Pushing Daisies, Chuck (although I'm in the midst of that)

Ever quit watching a show because it was so bad?
I tend to be loyal to shows, even when they've lost all their mojo *cough*Heroes*cough*. I end up caring out the characters enough to find out what happened to them, even if the plot stinks.

Name a show you aren't interested in watching, not in the least:
Anything resembling to 'The Hills', Toddlers & Tiaras, Star Trek, almost anything on TLC.

Name a show that's made you cry multiple times:
I don't cry at TV, so none.

What was the first TV show you were obsessed with?
I'm going to say Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Within the last decade? Heroes and Glee.

How often do you watch TV?
I like to say not much, but when I think about it I actually do watch quite a lot of TV, especially since I'm not in school and without a job at the moment. When my life starts rolling again I'll have to trim the fat.

Which do you think is the best TV series ever made?
This question is too subjective. Logically speaking, I would have to say Star Trek, since it pretty much created its own culture. The television series I have enjoyed watching the most, though, would honestly have to be Glee, new as it is. It just has everything I'm looking for. Good acting, good plot, good music and a cast that gets along so well that I truly wish I was part of their circle.
