Canada Day!

In honour (that's right, I used a U!) of my beloved Canada, and to celebrate the debauchery inducing Canada Day, I bought and scanned an article from Macleans (which just so happens to be a Canadian magazine) comparing the lives of Canadians and Americans just for my Yankee friends. Enjoy(and try not to cry)!

I really do love my country. What the article doesn't exactly delve into is the excellent, laid-back, "heya, buddy!" national attitude that I have been privileged to experience. Canadians, for the most part, are bright, friendly and accommodating to the point of absurdity. Politeness is held in the highest regard and to offend or make a scene is almost criminal. This affable attitude is well known throughout the world, even to the point of preferential treatment (which I have experienced. I was actually kind of mortified). Any well traveled person knows that to sew a Canadian flag to your backpack is one of the smartest things you can do. I've even heard stories of Americans posing as Canadians overseas so they won't be treated poorly. Our weather may be snowy and prone to being miserable, but then winter ends and one of the most beautiful summers on the planet rolls in. So stand proud fellow Canadians(but don't stand so proud that others get annoyed), and remember to always be bad(but not bad in the bad way)!

Okay, now that I've shoved so much pro-Canada and anti-America in your face, I want to say this: I have met some truly amazing American's and some absolutely rotten Canadians. I often feel like the total Yankee population gets a bad name because of a fucked up government and some isolated incidents that the media zooms in on. Canadians often get the same treatment, except in a positive light. It's kind of unfair. To all you wonderful and generous Americans (which, I'm sure, is almost all of you): stand proud and be bad!
