So, it seems like during summer, when I had plenty of free time, I hardly did anything at all. Now that the semester has begun and I am nothing but busy, I'm bombarded by 'extra-curricular activities.' Wednesday evening, I had planned to go Recycled Books to buy the Iliad & Odyssey then to savers to get a new sport coat. Instead, I got a call from Monica and ended up going to see
40 year old virgin. It was a pretty funny movie, but it's the kind of
Ferrell-esque comedy that you either love or hate. Fortunately, I love it.
Thursday was slightly less hectic, if only for the fact that I got home by 10:30. The
Music in the Park concert series ended on the 8th with the final band,
Trapt. While I'm definately not their biggest fan, it's difficult to argue with a free open air concert with a homegrown band that went big. The crowd was awesome and I had a sweet spot to stand after climbing a streetlamp. After the concert, I hung out around downtown with some friends and had a
few drinks.
Friday was
work 9-5 almost the whole day. After work I flew down to
King Eggroll to pick up an order for 60 eggrolls. While I'd placed the order on my lunchbreak, didn't have it ready when I got there. I waited for about a half hour while they cooked 'em all. After that I headed up to northern SJ to pick up my new RAM for my laptop. Then, finally, I was on my way to
Patterson for a LAN party! We ended up having it at David's office in the conference room. It was actually the perfect place to do it. There only five of us, so the table was a perfect size, and there was room for all of the food. We LANned it up 'til about 6am then promptly fell asleep on the floor. We all woke up between 10 and noon, as Saturday was Patterson's annual
chili cook-off [pdf] being held a block away. Complete with live bands. Wonderful. So we packed up and headed out. I went to Turlock and took a shower and nap at my parents' house before going up to
Outback in Modesto that Sunday night. It was sort of a going away thing for Alex. Today, Monday, he left for Japan for a full yearlong study abroad. He's gonna love it.
Saturday I spent my time
watching football (
GO COLTS!) and trying to fix my desktop computer. Upgrade after upgrade, and it's still messed up. I'm starting to develop a real love-hate for it. Today's been alright, but I've got a bit of a headache and I have a TON of homework tonight. On top of it all, I need to find time for
Monday Night Football. Tomorrow night is an advanced screening of the
Corpse Bride down at
Oakridge. I wanna see the movie, but I've also got a lot of reading to do. Wednesday night is a screening of
Lord of War at
AMC, and I'm definately going to that one.
This weekend should be fun as well. Saturday is the Dionysian Symposium and Sunday night is David M's birthday. We're gonna go to Hooters in Dublin and have a hot wing eating contest that I'm going to win. And to top it all off, Wednesday is payday! Somewhere in all of this mix, I've got school and work, and homework too. Ah, college.
