I'm not a Blizzard fanboy! Or am I?

So my primary World of Warcraft server is Kilrogg, which apparently has problems during peak play hours maintaining stability. I say "apparently" because I usually miss the peak hours because I play the game later at night. In any event, I've had relatively no problems with the game (be it lag, obnoxious other people, or instability). I'm not sure if that's because I play at those off-peak hours or if I'm just a lot more patient with things than other people. I'm sure that being in a similar industry (one with a large and often highly-critical fan base) makes me tend to side on Blizzard's side more often, but really... I've not had a single bad experience with the game that wasn't either minor and easy to cope with or wasn't understandable, given the fact that their customer base is larger than many real-world countries (and grew to that size overnight).

All this is to say that I'm a bit puzzled and sometimes annoyed when I hear so many people complaining about bad customer service from Blizzard, or not being able to log on to the game at all. Sure, sometimes there's queues you have to wait in, but that's the same for any massive public form of entertainment, be it a concert, a movie, a theme park, or a massive multiplayer online game.

I know what I'd do if dealing with such issues were making me enjoy playing the game less. I'd quit the game and play a less popular game. Or a single-player game. World of Warcraft's not the only computer game out there, folks, nor is it the only form of entertainment. If the game's bringing you more angst and rage than fun and joy, you owe it to yourself to find something you enjoy playing more.
