Okay so yesterday I decided I was going to take my dad's record player out and get that thing hooked up in my room. It took a day of fixing the thing and getting the motor working, but once I did, it was alllll fun from there.

A few years back, I helped my karate instructor repaint a property that's owned by the same guy who owns the strip mall the karate school's in. The place had been a record store, but they went out of business. We painted all day and finished the interior quite nicely, but when I got to the back door to leave, I saw a small cardboard box STACKED inside with old 45's. I asked what was going to become of them, and I heard they were just going to throw them away. Well I said to hell with that, so I took the box home and it sat in my closet until now. Yesterday I played all of them and categorized all of them. I found some gems in there, including stuff like "Grease" and "Love Machine" by the miracles. Rock on right.

Anyway, since I'm a frequent visitor to the thrift shops, I always see their records for sale, for dirt cheap prices. As well as at goodwill and half price books, which are also excellent. So today I went to the ol' Unique Thrift and bought 8 records (50% sale!) and I've been playing them since I got home. This is so F'ing awesome. For those interested I got:

Kiss-Alive!
ZZ Top- Eliminator
Billy Joel- Greatest Hits I/II
Boston-Boston
Sammy Hagar-VOA
Kenny Rogers-Kenny (Yeah, shut up I like Kenny Rogers)
Billion Dollar Movies (Basically a cool late 70s compilation of popular movie themes from the day and age)
Supertramp-Breakfast in America

All that for 8.72! Freaking awesome I say. I'm going to keep on collecting till I have all the records I can stand. At these prices, I think I can swing it.
