School break, wasted time

Aug 09, 2012 20:52

Well, the school went on break again. The break between summer and fall semesters.
I figured I had enough time before it began and I'm surprised it started so soon, but I guess teachers need vacations too. They also start it so early so UA members can do their training at the school.

The only problem is, the computer labs are open only until 5p, and for someone like me who works nights and sleeps in until 2-3p, it doesn't give me much time.

I don't have internet at home, plus there are things (photo and video editing, other stuff) that I can't do on my own computer, and require the more powerful school computers that often have software I don't have, like Photoshop.

So it sucks ass that they close early now thanks to break.

But I partially have myself to blame as I seemed to waste too much time checking up on social networks of different kinds. It also amazes me how much 3-4 hours of time can just ZOOM by while on the Internet. I'll be checking up on a board and read 10 pages of a thread and it's 2 hours later by the time I finish. I just don't get why that happens.

Sometimes it's me getting distracted or sidetracked. Like the way it's sometimes easy to get lost on Wikipedia or TV Tropes or youtube just watching and reading interesting things and then finding more interesting things to watch and read.

But sometimes tasks that I assume are going to just take about a half-hour at most end up taking hours. And I'm not sure why that happens. I'm starting to think I put around some kind of time-slowing spell around myself mentally where the rest of the world goes by faster. Or perhaps my brain just shuts off every 10 seconds.

wasted time, school, internets
