Fail-Ja-Nai

Been busy with homework lately. I had two assignments due this week.

The con I went to last Saturday was a bit of a fail and bit of a success. Nothing quite worked out the way it should have.

Summary: (or TL/DR)
Due to snow I had to work longer thus I got there late. My family decided to have lunch for my grandmother's birthday that day, so I had to spend an hour with them. I forgot part of my costume at home and had to go back for it. I got somewhat sick to my stomach. I left kinda early because I was tired and sick. But I tried to enjoy myself as best as I could.

The Bad
The last time I went to a con, work fucked around with me getting to it early because the newspapers all showed up rather late. Of course, once again, work fucked around with my ability to go to a convention again. Makes me think I need to find a less shitty job.

This time it really wasn't work, but the weather. We had a couple inches of snow dumped on us. And although I came in an hour early to work and all the newspapers were there, they weren't set up yet. And I ended up finishing close to when I usually finish due to the snow all over the unplowed roads.

So, of course I didn't get more than 5 hours of sleep, which may explain why I got sick during the con. Apparently not having enough sleep fucks up my entire system.

I went about 4 hours without eating and then ate a candy bar, and then still felt "hungry" and went to a Japanese restaurant to eat. But for some reason, I couldn't eat. It was like I felt "hungry" but couldn't eat more than a little without wanting to puke. So I sipped my udon and only ate a fourth of it, and drank two glasses of water. I took some pepto as well.

Then, I spent the rest of the night pissing clear, probably thanks to the water. It didn't help with my stomach much. I was also very exhausted and having trouble staying awake, so I left after the raffle and went home to nap.
That night when I worked I drank V8 and nibbled on pretzels and the stomach ache mostly went away, which was strange.

I don't get it. If I am tired, or if I go a while without eating, I get sick and can't hold down my food? Or is it because I ate something that made me sick? Or did I have a stomach ache or ulcer due to dehydration or lack of sleep or something? I have no idea what made me sick.

Crispin Freeman
Near the end of the con, after I had tried to eat and was pissing clear every 10 minutes, I saw a panel by Crispin Freeman, known for being a famous VA in various anime and video games, and is famous for voicing Alucard in Hellsing. If you look at his picture, he looks like a cross between Grace Topher and a *N-sync reject. Who wears their hair like that anymore?!

He talked about the relationship between Japanese obsession with Giant Robot heroes and how it comes from Japanese religion and belief, like how western comic heroes are based off of western Abrahamic religion. At the end I asked a question about if Western religion was the reason western comics had absolute evil and good characters, and if Japanese religion is why Japanese anime/comics have not-so-good heroes and not-so-bad villians. I may have worded the question badly, as I sometimes stutter a bit in front of crowds, but he said the entire panel was about that and asked me if I wanted him to start over.

So the guy came off as extremely book smart, but a bit cocky and smug and smart-assy. Of course, he has legions of fangirls, though, because he's "good looking" and smart and has a deep voice and retarded women love that shit.

The good
When I arrived (late, due to the snow), the Name That Anime Tune panel was about half done, but I did get to enjoy the rest of the panel. I then ate lunch with my family because it was my grandmother's birthday. I went home to get the costume, came back for Anime Jeopardy, entered the costume contest (lost due to much better costumes that were actually hand made and not store bought), watched Star Driver, tried to eat, watched Crispin Freeman's panel, entered the raffle (didn't win anything), went home to lay down.

So it was an okay con but a lot of shit went wrong. And pictures will be forthcoming but I have quite a few of them.
