Saturday: Football Game

Oct 20, 2010 22:01

Friday my aunt called me up to say she had gotten tickets to the next University of Michigan college football game. I said hell yes!

And of course, it being the first game I've been to in nearly 10 years, we had to lose.

Michigan made too many mistakes. We threw three interceptions. The kickers couldn't kick, and when they kicked the ball to the other team the other team would get it mid-field rather than by their goal, so they had less distance to travel to score. And score they did. By the end of the third quarter, we were behind by over 20 points. Our starting quarterback ran the ball more often than he threw it, which means we didn't get down the field as fast.

It was only until the fourth quarter we got a better quarterback, which got us two touchdowns in 10 minutes. When we got the first touchdown the stadium exploded with cheering, and that was after a fourth of the nearly +100k fans left. The cheering continued even through the second touchdown.

And then they threw the interception that gave Iowa the ball. And nearly the entire stadium got up and left. Had they not done that we might have scored another touchdown to tie/win the game. The final score ended up Iowa - 38, Michigan 28.

But, the redesigned Michigan Stadium is beautiful and awesome and epic with stone and brick. And the crowd sure was worked up and added to the fun and excitement. There's nothing better than being in the middle of an excited mass of fans. Anyone who's a soccer fan can agree with that.
