I've known about an Anthromorphic convention going on in Detroit since it's beginning 3-4 years ago, since I know many of the organizers and staff. I decided to go this year as I have good transportation and it's 30 minutes from me, an easy drive into the Detroit area.
But I wondered what I would actually do at such a convention. Would there be anything of interest or would I be bored to death?
Well, it turns out there is a lot to interest me. A short list of events:
- Video Game room, with Rock Band contests and other contests.
- A Lego room with a building contest. Expect me to build some 10 foot monstrosity.
- Showing of the movie Clue starring Tim Curry. Supposedly there will be audience participation where we use the clues to figure out whodunit.
- A murder mystery game involving con-goers.
- Several 80's game shows (since the con has an 80's theme)
- Model Rocket panel, Model Trains panel
- Automotive panel, although this sounds like it's people who like to pimp or rice their cars and that's just not me.
- LARPing
- Board games (including D&D), and card games (like Magic)
- Charades
- A HAM radio "fox hunt" where they use radios to find someone. I've never done this before but it looked interesting.
- 80s themed dance
And of course, as always, half this shit is happening at the same time! This always happens no matter what convention I go to. You would think they would arrange things so stuff I want to go to would happen at different times!!!
