Lady is suing me!
Or at least my old job is being sued.
As if I need something else to make my life even more complex..
Back in 2007 I hit someone while delivering pizzas. Now the woman is suing me and the pizza company.
Earlier this week I had a summons hand delivered to my house. It's about 10 pages of a legal deposition stating how negligent I was, how the other person suffered injuries and loss of wages and should be compensated in an amount of at least $25,000 or more, and that since I was employed by the pizza company they are liable and responsible for my actions and thus must reimburse the lady.
I like how it takes 2 years for them to get around to this crap. And I'm seriously tired of popping up in court as a defendant every other year, it seems.
There are two things I'm worried about. The biggest thing is whether I'll need to hire an attorney, because frankly I can NOT afford one, and you don't get public defenders for civil suits. The other one would be if I got sued instead of my former job, which probably won't happen, and if it did, I could use tax statements and paychecks to prove I can't pay it, or file for bankruptcy.
Is it just me or does it seem like the whole world is trying to make me broke? If there's any kind of god or gods they must love to torture me and make me suffer, especially financially.
This woman may have a legitimate case, if say she really was injured and couldn't work, or couldn't get to work and missed work due to not having a car. But I see this as just a way to get rich quick. First off, my car's damages were around $3000, and I junked it, whereas her damages were just the bumper, back frame, and trunk, and probably amounted to less (at least she could probably drive the damn thing, just bungie the trunk shut). Second off, if the owner of the car is claiming injury, she wasn't even in the car when it crashed. She came afterwards and told me she was going to sue me to fix her car.
She said right at the accident scene that she would sue me. And being that she's an older black woman who worked as a janitor/maintenance at a local university, she's probably out for easy money. She probably sees this whole thing as a way to get back at the white man, or get what she thinks she's owed by the white man due to slavery and racism and shit. Oh she doesn't care about ethics or lying just as long as she gets what's due to her for being born black and poor. Hah!
Sick of people trying to get easy money. Everyone's so fucking greedy nowadays. Money is the new god, it will give you salvation, security, power, materialistic pretty sparkly shit, and hos, and a 1 way path to immortality and heaven. And the worst are the ones that think they deserve free money, like the people who call personal injury attorneys.
I sent the paperwork to a legal adviser so we'll see how it goes.
