It's the new year, it's another day...

For the second day of the new year/decade it sure is cold. 10 degrees F with a -5 windchill.

It's funny because New Years just felt like another day, a day for me to sit around watching the Lord of the Rings and work. Maybe that's because it IS just another day, and we as humans are the ones who add the artifical construct of years and months and dates, to the passage of time.

Yea, some people will say that it really isn't the end of the decade, that's 2011. However, I like to make it easy. The old century/millenium ended and the new one began when the first number of the year went from being a 1 to a 2. Thus, 2000 was the start of the new decade/century/millenium, thus this is the start of the next decade. It's the 20-tens thus 2010 has to be a part of the 20-tens because it has 10 in it.

Speaking of Lord of the Rings, I finally got the last of all three movies. So I've been watching it over this weekend. If there was ANY movie(s) I would consider the best movie(s) of the last decade, if there were any trilogies I would consider the best of the last decade, these would be it. Hands down the best damn movies ever.

To show how awesomely they did these movies, and their great attention to detail, I noticed in the first one that while they tried to cross the mountains, Legolas was walking on TOP of the snow, something that was not made obvious. In the books it is made obvious, because while Gimli chopped through the snow with his axe, Legolas, being obnoxiously happy (thank god they toned that down in the movie), is dancing on top of the snow, singing, and teasing Gimli about being buried in snow.

I also have a desire to get the soundtracks to this movie because I think that's also what made this movie awesome, it had some of the greatest music ever in any movie.
