in a state of shock

So... here's the story.

Steve Stone is probably going to be buying the Skittle (my Dodge Neon). He requested driving it tomorrow, so he and I swapped cars about twenty minutes ago.

Knowing his car sucks as it does, I made the choice to take 16th down to Sycamore, and then proceed down to Broad St, rather than drive on 641 the whole way. Bad choice.

As I began to cross the intersection of 641 and Sycamore (I had a green light), a light grey full sized truck came barreling down at me. The car that had been stopped at the light had turned right (on red), and he'd just assumed it was a green light with it having moved, apparently. Thankfully, I saw this in time, and veered off to the right. At 35 mph, however, I couldn't exactly make a right turn. I was headed straight at a line of cars heading northbound on 641. SO, I hauled the wheel to the left, initiating an incredible 180 in the middle of the intersection.

The guy screeched to a halt, I pulled off to the side of the road, we chatted. Nice guy. Car was okay. He hadn't hit it, though he thought maybe he had on the back end. Gave me his name and number in case I noticed something later. Short of a mild heart attack, I was okay, too.

Ugh. I'm not sleeping for a while.

Oodles all around.
Dave
