I rarely discuss religious things on this - and I don't plan on starting to, because I feel face-to-face discussions are the best medium... however, some thoughts came to me tonight and I felt like typing them out, if for no other benefit than my own. So if you're not so inclined, by all means, skip the rest of this post. It really is more for me than for you to read. But if you want, go right ahead.
I just cranked out two sermons today. Seven years ago when I started doing this, it would've taken me two weeks to do that. I love knowing enough scriptures to not have to use a concordance every time I want to quote something or reference it. It's amazing to think that I've been a Christian for just over a decade, now, and as I grow older, I realize scriptures that used to mean so little to me I can preach sermons on now. I guess it just makes me understand why the older folks at church seem to study so much more than some of the younger ones. I don't think it's just because they have more time after retiring - I think it's that every verse brings with it a TON of others that they think of and feel they need to study about. I think it's amazing how much you can grow when you simply decide that it's not only worth it, but it's VITAL to you to study the Bible... not just READ it, but STUDY it... at least an hour a day. It's just amazing the growth and knowledge that takes place with that little of a commitment.
Anyway... enough of that.
I meet with the PMA and SAI exec boards tomorrow night. Looking forward to this. It's been three years in the making. Heh. We'll see what happens.
Oodles all around.
