Alright.
Most of you know I'm a huge comics fan.
But recently, I've gotten into a few new comics, ones that I feel the extreme need to pimp to you all.
New Avengers: Ok. Now, I was never a big fan of The Avengers. But come ON. Captain America, Spider-Man, and Iron Man on one team. Combined with Luke Cage (one of Marvel's coolest characters), Spider-Woman, and fucking WOLVERINE.... need I say more? Yes? Alright. They also have THE SENTRY. Picture Superman with Batman's dark mood. That's the Sentry. Fucking read this book. NOW. For that matter? Pick up ANYTHING bearing the good name of Brian Michael Bendis. For he is the savior of comics.
Runaways: Brian Vaughn is incredible. Not only does he write the awesome Ultimate X-Men, but now he writes the incredible book called Runaways. A group of kids find out their parents were super villains and go on the run. Not the most exciting concept in theory, but its all in the writing. Vaughn knows what readers want. In issue #1 of the new series, he introduces a team called Excelsior, which is made of forgotten character with huge cult followings. Chamber, Phil Urich, Ricochet, Darkhawk, Turbo, and Julie Power. Plus, the dialogue is priceless. What other comic meant for young readers could manage to sneak in references to periods and a blowjob, and somehow make it not only funny, but oddly charming? You owe it to yourself. Buy the damned book.
Green Arrow: Oliver Queen... why did I take so long to find you? Green Arrow has been around for decades, but only recently have I discovered the joys of this awesome, awesome comic. Oliver is essentially me. He's stuck in a world that makes no sense, and at times seems to be the only person who realizes just how stupid those around him are. Good GOD is this a brilliantly written comic.
