New Poem "Acknowledging You"

~Acknowledging You~

I refuse to play the game
It's always the same
Kind of tame fame strain
Trilling the thrilling thoughts
Of you and I in a box
Trashed and smashed
And tossed away
Saving face another day.

The little note
The tired eyes
Frank the goat
Our sense of pride

Too much
It's just too much
All the time
Flagging this
Shagging that
Your crime
Then mine
Today I cry.
Tomorrow you.
Tell me this:
Just what is a sad boy to do?

Grasping at straws
And thread-bare lies
The then and now past-ties
Catch us haphazardly
On the fly
And we try
Blind to beauty
Deaf to trust
We kill each other
As if we must.

And when those same
Disenchanted sleepy,
Stuck up, drained and
Tired eyes
Finally fall asleep
They are lost in shadows
Adrift in prayers
So shallow
Yet so deep.

Secretly,
I'm scared.
