Entertaining weekend, yes it has been so far, lol. I had no idea what to expect on this 'leadership retreat' except the fact that I tend to come home from Tahlequah (Kari... :)~) with poison ivy... It only took an extra hour to actually get on the road, lol. I ended up in the minivan with Tim Kauley (Call-ay), Brandon, Kari, Annabel, Greg Dudley, n I think it was Mathew. The van ride there was just funny as hell. It all started when I said I wasn't sure about Tim as a driver, he was drivin, I had shotgun... Tim leaned over and put his arm across me, "I'll save you!" The legend of Soccermom Tim was born. Tim and I pimped for Lesli's van - Tim's got it down, especially the emergency double lane change across the painted median to make a turn. Turns out that the way I like to put my hand in the window flips off others, d'oh. Saw a bumper sticker I just had to make fun of. We exhibited human powered hydraulics in our minivan, had it rockin side to side, and front to back. We ate turkey sandwiches while about 2/3's of the trip paid for McDonalds. All in all it only took 4 hours to get to Talequah...ok, 5 if you count the hour on the steps of Troutt.
After we got to Tahlequah, we had several hours of leadership trait/planning/team building yadda yadda stuff to go over. Then came the name game...that took over a freaking hour, lol. We did a teamwork game...something about getting people over a river, but you can only cross it walking once... So I had basically grabbed a girl's ass before I knew her name, because I had her on my shoulder and she slipped, lol. Break time after dinner...we were playing volleyball with this ball that I swear is 3 feet in diameter, and made of the stuff dodgeball/4 square balls are made of, lol. Brandon, you sissy. Then we found the waterballons someone left us, and that was pretty damned funny. Got a coupla pre-frosh girls to join Brandon, Andy and I. Then we lobbed several over the building we were in and said hello to the people on the back porch... :) But after it was over, I had the names of all 42 nuts down, and got a t-shirt for it. boo-yah! I didn't really get to 'bond' with that many of the incoming freshman, but I did start some new relationships with people I simply hadn't know. Dear lord, don't play Taboo with Melody and Tim if it's after midnight... I'm not sure how we go from Termanix to crackwhores to cocaine to cockroaches, termits, and then the roaches you need tweezers for... And it was pretty funny seeing Andy basically make out with the matress he was using as a blanket.
On the river, Andy and I tipped our canoe over because it was funny, lol. Then we caught 3 other canoes that people had fallen out of ... Its always fun to catch flip-flops, lifejackets, and canoes that are submerged, lol. I need the group picture... don't know who's camera took it on the river. Big group, so I had Andy sit on my shoulders to get us both in. After the float was a little awards ceremony, some more turkey sandwiches, and then back on the vans for the return. Most of the minivan napped, I got about 2 twenty minute naps in, and the Big Pimpin Soccer-Mom Time had about 5 or 6 cans of Dr. Pepper during the 4 hour return trip...yee-haw! Tulsa radio stations - way too many commercials, and way too much repetition. Tim and I got to talkin when we realized that we were going to be passing very near to Krispy Kreme's, and we needed to let David Mayes now we needed some doughnuts. Well, we didn't get the message to David, but thanks to Tim I can now sign 'Now bitch!' in addition to the ...4 other choice phrases and most of the ASL alphabet.
I didn't really develop any deep friendships but got to know several people better, and moved them from aquaintances that I nod to on campus to people I can call on by name. There is one in particular, lol... well damn, she's in Edmond.
All that versus two downers....so very much soda and no water to drink after about 7 pm the first night...bleh. And while waterballooning...I came down hard on an elbow, hit the elbow on a rock, jammed a shoulder and pissed my neck off. If that's all I have to complain about with all the fun we had, then lets go again...just let me drive. ;)
