I like Derek and Jennifer fine, mostly due to the actress being great, but seriously. Parallels.
As I've said before, I don't think Sterek will ever be canon because we can't have nice things. The tertiary characters can be gay, but the leads will still have their heteronormative love interests because even on an MTV show skewing young with a large fanbase for the gay, they don't have the balls.
The thing I truly don't understand is why shows don't capitalize on the enormous slash fandom out there. No, slashers are not the majority of fans, but we're still a significant piece of the pie. The m/m romance market has gotten enormous in the last 10 years, with even Harlequin's online imprint (Carina Press) diving in.
I dunno. For some reason with Teen Wolf it grates so much more than it has in the past. My issues with Jennifer/Derek are largely not Sterek-related and more about pacing/characterization/storytelling, but watching this has me riled up.
