I know, I was like, Elena you’re not paralyzed! Swim, girl! And LOL, yes! That cheerleading outfit is pornographic!
I totally thought they’d kill Tyler, too. I did have a moment when someone said Tyler was dead thinking, Has someone checked on that? Because he might not be dead. But I never saw that twist coming. And now it makes sense with what they were doing with Klaus/Caroline this season. I had a thought as Klaus’s body burned that, huh, they never really ended up going anywhere with his feelings for her and her attraction to him. Well, I guess that’s coming! But what about Tyler? Where is his soul/mind/whatever? Meep!
Caroline as vamp was such a great choice, but I feel like Elena is already awesome and that enough people have become vampires (I really wish Tyler had just stayed a werewolf). Also, if she turns, I feel like it would really take something away from the love struggles with Stefan and Damon. If they’re all vampires, for some reason the stakes don’t feel so high. And then Matt would officially be the only normal human left! Jeremy sees dead people, Bonnie’s a witch, and everyone else is supernatural. So I think Elena should stay human, but we shall see. Either way, I’m sure it’ll be damn entertaining TV.
Agreed on the Decade Dance! :D Also, Jer needs a good love interest next season.

I was just reading an interview with Julie Plec that has some info about where they're taking things next season (and some places where she admits even they don't know what's going to happen yet) -- you can read it here if you like:
Anyway, since I see someone already told you Elena is going to transition, this isn't really a new spoiler, so I'll just say that JP mentions the fact that, in the books, Elena became a vampire "on, like, page 200 of the first book", and she says it was always their intention to eventually make her a vampire, but they didn't want it to be nearly as quickly as it happened in the books.

For me, Elena being a vampire makes the whole "who will she choose" question have much, much higher stakes than it had when she was human. As the brother themselves discussed sometime within the last few weeks, whichever one she chose, the other one was planning to leave town, but they thought that in 60 or 70 years they could come back and be *brothers* again. Now, whichever one Elena chooses, it's potentially FOREVER. Now, Elena isn't the only one who has to make a choice that could cost her one of them; when Elena finally makes a choice (which, although she chose Stefan at the end of this episode, there's no saying if she'll still make the same choice once she herself is a vampire), the brothers also have to make their own choice, between Elena and each other. There's no more "well, in 60 years or so, we can see each other again." IMO, that totally changes the whole game and makes the stakes much higher.
Huh! I had no idea Elena turned (and so quickly!) in the books.
Hmmm, you raise a v.v. compelling point. I guess I've just always liked the danger of the human/vamp romance, and the high stakes that comes attached. But you're right that forever really does change things in the triangle.
